New Delhi, July 30 -- India's wealthiest individuals together control Rs 104 lakh crore, an amount close to 30 per cent of the country's nominal GDP, according to the 360 ONE Wealth Creators List 2026, compiled with Crisil Intelligence. The report studied a wealth base of Rs 330 lakh crore across listed and unlisted holdings and identified 3,040 individuals with a net worth above Rs 425 crore each. Their combined wealth is roughly 1.2 times the size of India's mutual fund industry.

The numbers point to fast wealth creation alongside heavy concentration at the top. The ten richest people on the list hold about Rs 19.72 lakh crore, or 19 per cent of the total. The top 100 individuals account for nearly half the wealth, at 46 per cent, while the bottom half of the list, made up of 1,520 people, holds just 9 per cent.

Leading the 2026 list are Anant, Isha and Akash Ambani, each worth more than Rs 2.75 lakh crore. Looking at families rather than individuals, India's top 100 families hold Rs 76.5 lakh crore combined, led by the Adani, Ambani and Mittal families. Twelve business families now have wealth above Rs 1 lakh crore each, including Adani, Ambani, Mittal, Shanghvi, Mistry, Nadar, Jindal, Damani, Birla, Agarwal, Premji and Mehta.

The report also points to a generational shift. It lists 285 wealth creators under the age of 40, holding Rs 14.5 lakh crore, about 14 per cent of the total, with average individual wealth of Rs 5,094 crore. This group includes 134 first-generation entrepreneurs, 149 from business families, and two investors, with women making up 51 of them. Founders such as Zepto's Kaivalya Vohra and Aadit Palicha, both under 25, reflect how quickly new fortunes are being built, compared with businesses that once took a generation to grow. New-economy creators have a median age of 48, against 60 for those from older, traditional businesses. Even so, older wealth still dominates overall, with people aged 60 and above holding Rs 53.07 lakh crore, or just over half the list's total wealth.

Women now make up 24 per cent of the list, numbering 738, up from 559 last year, and hold Rs 22.6 lakh crore, about 23 per cent of total wealth. Their average holding stands at Rs 3,184 crore, slightly below the male average of Rs 3,486 crore, though women under 40 have the highest average wealth among all female age groups, at Rs 6,542 crore. The report names Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Rekha Jhunjhunwala, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Savitri Jindal and Manju Gupta among the women driving wealth creation across technology, investing, pharmaceuticals and traditional business.with agency inputs
