Chandigarh, Oct. 11 -- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday said his government had earned people's trust through four-and-a-half years of work, highlighting welfare schemes, employment generation, improved irrigation and free electricity.
Addressing a Lok Milni programme at Mimsa village in Dhuri constituency, Mann said the government was ensuring that public money was spent on development and welfare rather than personal interests.
He said more than 70,000 government jobs had been provided without corruption and over 90 per cent of households were receiving free electricity. He also highlighted daytime power supply for farmers and the expansion of canal irrigation.
According to Mann, the area receiving canal water had increased from 20.89 lakh acres in 2022 to 60.30 lakh acres. He said the government had spent Rs 7,200 crore on expanding irrigation facilities, with canal water reaching 1,587 villages that had not received it earlier.
The chief minister also cited the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which provides cashless treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh per family, and the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, offering monthly financial assistance to eligible women.
Targeting political opponents, Mann alleged that attempts to malign his reputation had failed.
