Patiala, Sept. 22 -- PSPCL Director Generation Er. Punnerdeep Singh Brar on Tuesday said social media reports about shutdown of power generation units at government thermal plants were factually inaccurate. He said all operational PSPCL units were generating power as per available capacity and supply was continuing smoothly across Punjab.
Brar said one Talwandi Sabo unit was earlier shut due to a technical fault, while a Ropar unit remained shut due to lower demand. However, all units at both plants are currently generating power. One Ropar unit may be kept shut depending on demand.
He clarified such shutdowns were not due to power shortage or supply problems. Farmers are currently receiving around 10 hours of supply against the scheduled eight hours, while domestic, commercial and industrial consumers are receiving uninterrupted power.
Brar said PSPCL, under CMD Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS, was ensuring reliable supply and urged people to verify power-related information through official sources.
