New Delhi, Oct. 22 -- Delhi Police has denied permission for Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh's scheduled concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, citing threat-related inputs, security concerns and law and order commitments during the ongoing festive season. The decision has drawn criticism from Aam Aadmi Party's Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj, who questioned the government's move.

In a letter dated October 21, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal informed BookMyShow Live Private Limited Director Anil Makhija that the request to organise the "Diljit Dosanjh's Aura India Tour Delhi" concert had been examined but could not be approved.

The letter stated that "specific threat-related inputs", combined with security responsibilities and other law and order concerns during the festive season, meant the request could not be accepted.

The concert was expected to attract a large number of fans and was scheduled to mark the beginning of the India leg of Dosanjh's Aura World Tour.

Reacting to the decision, Bharadwaj questioned why permission had been denied to the singer, whom he described as another Punjab icon after Daler Mehndi. "Indian youth love Dosanjh, and he is much loved in Punjab," he said.

Following the Delhi event, the tour was scheduled to visit six cities: Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh.

Dosanjh has also performed at venues across North America, Europe and Australia as part of his international tour.
