
Siliguri, May 14 -- A number of students are among the rank holders in the Higher Secondary examination this year.
Chandrachur Sen, a student of Ram Bhola High School, has brought pride to the Cooch Behar district by securing fourth rank in the state. He scored an outstanding 493 out of 500 marks. His achievement has brought joy to his family, school and the entire district.
Notably, Chandrachur was the only student from the Cooch Behar district to feature in the state's top 10 merit list this year. He had earlier topped the state in the 2024 Madhyamik Examination, raising high expectations among teachers and family members ahead of the Higher Secondary results.
As news of his success spread, neighbours, teachers, relatives and fellow students thronged his residence to congratulate him.
"I wish to pursue a career in the medical field," he stated. However, he expressed concern over the recent controversy surrounding the NEET examination. "The agency should be more careful while conducting examinations. Students suffer because of such irregularities and now we have to appear for the exam once again," he added.
Shreyashi Shil, a student of Siliguri Girls' High School, secured 8th rank in the state in the Higher Secondary Examination. She is a resident of South Ektiasal area in Siliguri. A humanities student, Shreyashi scored 489 marks out of 500.
Known for her dedication in studies since childhood, Shreyashi's achievement has filled her family, teachers and neighbours with pride.
Her father runs a small grocery shop in front of their house, while her mother is a primary school teacher. Her parents have consistently supported
and encouraged her education.
She aspires to pursue higher studies in Geography in the future. She dreams of serving society through a
government job.
"I thank my school teachers, parents, and private tutors for their support. Their inspiration helped me reach this milestone. I am very happy with my results and hope for even better performance in the future,"
said Sreyashi.
Malda district made a mark in the Higher Secondary examination. Aritra Saha, a student of Malda Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir, achieved 489 marks, scoring 97.80 per cent and securing the eighth rank in the state.
A resident of Jhaljhalia Deshbandhu Para in Malda town, Aritra also emerged as the district topper. He wants to be an astronomer in future. Another bright performer from the district, Mohammad Shahabuddin Ali of Sujapur High School, scored 488 marks, securing 97.60 per cent. A resident of Bhagabanpur Elahitola in Baishnabnagar, he achieved the probable ninth rank in the state and stood second in
