Bengaluru, Sept. 10 -- Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani and his family, along with Zerodha founders Nithin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath, are among several prominent voters whose names have figured on the notice list during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Karnataka, officials said.
Nilekani, his wife and children have been marked as "unmapped with last Special Intensive Revision (2002 rolls)". In the Bengaluru South Assembly constituency, Nithin Kamath, Nikhil Kamath and their mother Revathi Kamath have been flagged over a "parents' name mismatch". Officials said such verification would not cause inconvenience to VIPs or prominent individuals. Election personnel would visit them to complete the required formalities. Though notices were generated in these cases, they have not been served on the individuals, sources said.
Similar issues involving Bharat Ratna awardee Professor C N R Rao and Kannada actor Shivarajkumar are also being handled by officials. Rao was flagged over a name mismatch, while Shivarajkumar's name was not mapped with the 2002 rolls. Sources said notices generated for them were also not served as officials were resolving the discrepancies.
Meanwhile, confusion arose over reports that Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's mother, Gowramma, had received a notice for a "self-name mismatch" in Kanakapura. The Bengaluru South District Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer clarified that no notice had been issued to her.
The DC said two other voters with the same name at her polling station had received notices. "The confusion arose from the similarity of names," the official said, adding that reports claiming a notice was issued to the CM's mother were "not factually correct".
