New Delhi, Oct. 28 -- NCRTC has won an award for the best passenger service and satisfaction for the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference & Expo 2026, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Manohar Lal, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs and Power, presented the award to NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel under the Metro Rail with the Best Passenger Service and Satisfaction category.

Since the phased commencement of operations in October 2023, the corridor has recorded over 4.8 crore passenger journeys and now serves more than 1.1 lakh commuters daily. Its highest-ever single-day ridership exceeded 1.68 lakh passengers, reflecting growing adoption of regional rail.

The Prime Minister recently cited the corridor as a benchmark for positive governance, praising its adherence to project timelines, operational speed of 160 kmph and punctuality of 99.9 per cent.

Namo Bharat has significantly reduced travel time between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut. Air-conditioned coaches, timely services, modern stations and convenient interchange facilities have improved regional connectivity for commuters travelling for work, education and business. The service also offers an alternative to road travel during congestion and extreme weather.

Integration with Metro services, Indian Railways, interstate bus terminals and city buses further enhances connectivity. The first-of-its-kind integration of Meerut Metro services over the same infrastructure strengthens regional mobility.

NCRTC also secured first prize for its exhibition at UMI 2026, showcasing the corridor's modern infrastructure, advanced technology, multimodal integration and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiatives. This marks the second consecutive year that NCRTC has won the Best Exhibitor award.
