New Delhi, Oct. 2 -- Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda urged India's life sciences industry to make patient-centric innovation its central mission as the inaugural Bharat Life Sciences Awards, organised by FICCI and powered by Eli Lilly and Company (India), honoured winners at Vigyan Bhawan.

The awards, backed by Rs 7 crore in grants, received over 500 applications. Dr Vamsee Mallajosyula, National Centre for Biological Sciences (TIFR), won the Ramanujan Arogya Udaan Samman for Young Scientist, while Dr Bharti Bhatia, Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, was runner-up.

Pacify Medical Technologies won the Charaka Arogya Samman; Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV-Mankind) won the Sushruta Arogya Samman; and BRIC-National Institute of Biomedical Genomics won the Nalanda Arogya Vigyan Samman, with LV Prasad Eye Institute as runner-up.

The Jivaka Arogya Navpravartan Gaurav went to Sciverse Solutions, while Dr Ratnesh Jain, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai Biocluster, received the Sarabhai Arogya Drishti Gaurav.

NITI Aayog Member Prof Gobardhan Das, Pharmaceuticals Secretary Manoj Joshi, and Drugs Controller General of India Dr Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi also addressed the summit.
