Jalpaiguri, Sept. 25 -- A 55-year-old bakery manager was found murdered inside a bakery in Jalpaiguri town on Friday morning, with the cash counter allegedly broken and money missing from the cash box. The incident took place at Paris Bakery in the Race Course Para-Naya Basti area under Ward 10 of Jalpaiguri Municipality.
The deceased, Hafizul Rahman, was a resident of Porsura in Hooghly district and had been living in Jalpaiguri for several years for work. He was found lying in a pool of blood inside the bakery. According to police sources, Rahman was at the bakery on Thursday night. A bakery worker, Sheikh Jahangir Ali, said the attacker may have entered through a ventilator and broke the drawer containing money.
Jalpaiguri Kotwali police recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem. CCTV footage is being examined. Police suspect a robbery attempt may have led to the murder after Rahman resisted the attackers.
