Patna, Sept. 15 -- Government job aspirants staged a protest march in Patna on Tuesday, demanding cancellation of several recruitment examinations, including those for 1,799 sub-inspector posts, alleging irregularities.
The protesters marched from Gandhi Maidan towards the chief minister's residence but were stopped by police at JP Golambar. Amid rain, some protesters carrying the Tricolour breached barricades and took alternative routes. Some also attempted to block railway tracks, while others moved towards the Assembly and the chief minister's residence.
Patna SSP Kartikeya K Sharma said several protesters were detained after entering prohibited areas, disrupting public order and essential services, he said.
The protesters sought cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination and the BPSSC recruitment exam, besides an end to the contract system and the 25 per cent weightage rule.
