Chandigarh, Oct. 6 -- Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday met Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and discussed ways to deepen cooperation between Haryana and Singapore in education, skill development, water management, urban development, technological innovation and employment generation.

Saini thanked the Singapore government for its hospitality and said Haryana could benefit from Singapore's experience in modern urban planning, water management and technology-driven development.

He said Haryana was adapting its development model to the changing economic environment and emerging technologies. Greater cooperation with Singapore, he added, could help the state adopt modern solutions for water treatment, conservation and urban planning.

Saini said a stronger partnership between Haryana and Singapore could provide fresh momentum to the state's development efforts.

Balakrishnan welcomed Saini and said Singapore remained committed to strengthening its cooperation with India and Haryana. He particularly assured support in connecting Haryana's youth with skill development programmes and creating employment opportunities for them at the global level.

The two sides agreed to expand cooperation in education and skills, develop modern training programmes and employment opportunities for young people, and promote advanced technologies in water management and urban development.

Saini said Haryana's young workforce, combined with Singapore's technological expertise, could create new opportunities for the state's growth. He stressed the need to equip young people with skills suited to emerging and future employment requirements.

The chief minister said the state was also focused on promoting modern and sustainable development and expressed confidence that closer engagement with Singapore would open new avenues in education, skill development, water management, urban planning and technological innovation.

The meeting is part of Haryana's efforts to explore international partnerships and leverage global expertise for its development priorities, particularly in areas with direct implications for infrastructure, employment and sustainable growth.
