Bijnor, Sept. 15 -- The bodies of a couple were found in separate locations here on Tuesday, tied to trees, with the woman in a semi-naked condition and the man wearing her salwar, police said.

The deceased, residents of Jalalpur Kazi village under Bijnor Kotwali police station, had gone to collect wood to a canal area on Monday, Additional Superintendent of Police Krishna Gopal Singh said.

Family members went looking for them but could not find them. Blood stains were found at the spot, following which police were informed, the ASP said.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area, including with the help of a drone, but could not trace the couple on Monday.

On Tuesday morning, the 36-year-old woman's body was found tied with her dupatta to a tree, the police said. Her body was found in a semi-nude condition.

The 40-year-old man's body was found around 1.5 km away, also tied to a tree with the clutch wire of a motorcycle. He was wearing his wife's salwar, the police said. Police teams have been formed to identify and trace those allegedly involved in the incident, the ASP said.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination and further investigation is underway, police said.
