New Delhi, Oct. 29 -- Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu has stressed that achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 requires active citizen participation alongside effective governance and economic growth, saying nation-building cannot be the responsibility of the government alone.
Delivering the keynote address at Mantraṇā, the flagship discussion series of Bharat Ki Soch, Naidu said policies could provide the vision, but citizens' actions would determine the pace and success of development.
"Policies provide the vision, but citizens' actions determine the pace and success of the outcome," he said, emphasising the shared responsibility of the government and citizens in upholding constitutional values and fulfilling civic duties.
Naidu said a developed India by 2047 should be free from hunger, atrocities, discrimination and disparities. True progress, he noted, must be measured not merely through economic indicators but also through social well-being, equity and unity.
Describing the diligent performance of one's duties as true patriotism, he urged young people to dream big, work hard and contribute actively to national development. He also encouraged them to acquire global skills and exposure, including abroad, and bring their expertise back to support India's growth. National integration across regions, languages, castes and communities, he said, was essential to the country's progress.
Bharat Ki Soch Chairman Anil Rajput said responsible citizenship and individual accountability were vital to realising the vision. Respecting public property, protecting the environment, following rules and acting with integrity must become part of everyday life, he said.
Naidu also felicitated winners of the Jan Chetna 2026 debate and essay competitions organised by Bharat Ki Soch in association with the Manav Rachna Centre for Peace and Sustainability.
