New Delhi, Sept. 13 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended his best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping as the BRICS chairship passes to China, saying the grouping's entry into its third decade has heightened expectations for "concrete results".
Addressing the open session on the concluding day of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, Modi said the world was now looking to the grouping for outcomes rather than just ideas and commitments.
"BRICS is poised to enter its third decade.
The world now expects concrete results from us, not just ideas and commitments," he said, expressing confidence that member countries would live up to those expectations through collective efforts.
Modi also congratulated China, which will host the next BRICS summit in 2027, and thanked participating leaders and their teams for making the New Delhi summit a success.
"I extend my best wishes once again to China as the next host of BRICS," Modi said, before wishing the leaders and their delegations a pleasant and safe journey.
