Balurgha, Oct. 16 -- With the risk of road accidents expected to rise during the Durga Puja festivities, the district Health department has directed doctors, nurses and healthcare workers at Balurghat District Hospital to remain alert and ensure uninterrupted emergency medical services round the clock.
District Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Sudip Das instructed the hospital authorities to keep the emergency department fully prepared to handle a possible surge in accident victims during the festive period. Additional doctors, nurses and healthcare workers have been directed to remain on duty in the emergency department, particularly at night, to ensure that injured patients receive prompt medical attention.
On Thursday evening, Das held a meeting with doctors, nurses and healthcare workers on the second floor of Balurghat Super Speciality Hospital. The meeting focused on maintaining uninterrupted emergency services and ensuring that patients injured in road accidents receive immediate treatment.
The district health department said the initiative was aimed at strengthening preparedness during the festive season, when increased traffic movement may lead to a rise in road accidents and emergency cases.
As part of the preparedness drive, Das organised a similar meeting with doctors and nurses at Gangarampur Sub-Divisional Hospital on Friday to review arrangements and ensure that emergency services remain fully functional throughout the festive period.
