KUALA LUMPUR, June 13 -- Umno has rejected allegations of betrayal levelled by Negeri Sembilan caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, with party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi saying the party's support for Aminuddin's administration was only intended to last until the dissolution of the state assembly.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Zahid said there had been no act of betrayal on the part of Negeri Sembilan Umno, as the party's backing for the menteri besar had been given only until the end of the state's term.

He said that after Aminuddin announced the dissolution of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly on June 5, Umno decided to contest the upcoming state election independently.
