KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 30 -- An Indonesian father of six has been sentenced to 13 years in prison for causing the death of a compatriot after his 12-year-old daughter said the man had raped her, with subsequent forensic tests linking the victim to the alleged assault.

The 30-year-old pleaded guilty at the High Court in Tawau to an alternative charge over the death of the 33-year-old man in August 2024, the New Straits Times (NST) reported.

He had initially been charged with murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code, but the charge was later amended to one under Section 304(a), which covers culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
