KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 13 -- A 32-year-old Singaporean man rescued by Malaysian police after he was allegedly kidnapped with his girlfriend is wanted by Singapore's Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) over a suspected drug-related offence.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) told Channel NewsAsia (CNA) that the man and a 33-year-old Singaporean woman were rescued by the Royal Malaysia Police on Tuesday following the alleged kidnapping.

SPF said preliminary investigations by Malaysian police found that the man did not possess a valid travel document, while both he and the woman tested positive for drugs.

The pair are believed to know each other, while the man is also believed to know one of the alleged kidnappers, SPF said.
