Singapore woman jailed for role in sham investment scheme to secure foreigners' employment passes
SINGAPORE, July 16 -- A woman described by a judge as a key player in a scheme involving sham employment arrangements for foreigners seeking to secure Singapore immigration benefits was sentenced to 10 weeks' jail on Tuesday.
CNA reported that Wang Jue, 43, was convicted of conspiring to make a false statement in an employment pass declaration form after a court found that an alleged investment arrangement offered to foreigners was a sham, with the employment pass being the only real benefit.
Wang, identified in court documents as a Singapore citizen, had contested the charge but was found guilty of helping two men, Zhang Qingqiao and Ang Sek Chai, submit a false declaration that Zhang would be employed by Ang's company, MW Dynamics.
