SINGAPORE, Sept. 7 -- A 15-year-old girl ran to a neighbourhood police centre after her father raped her while he was taking a shower.

The man later walked past the station while searching for her, saw her inside, returned home to change into jeans, and then surrendered to officers, according to a Straits Times report.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Eric Hu told the High Court that the victim had endured years of physical abuse, saying she believed "it was normal for him to use violence against her".

The 51-year-old pleaded guilty to rape, outrage of modesty and criminal breach of trust (CBT), with additional CBT and voyeurism charges to be considered at sentencing on November 2.
