SINGAPORE, Sept. 4 -- Veteran Singapore rapper and businessman Sheikh Haikel has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and is undergoing treatment after surgery.

The 50-year-old entertainer, a familiar figure in Singapore's Malay entertainment scene, revealed his diagnosis in an Instagram video yesterday saying he had kept his condition private after friends noticed he had lost weight.

"With the heaviest of hearts, I would like to say and tell everyone who is watching this that I have fourth-stage cancer," he said, fighting back tears.

Haikel said he had told friends he was fine despite not feeling well, and apologised to his wife for having asked her to keep his condition private.
