SINGAPORE, July 6 -- Mandopop singer Wang Leehom suffered a heavy fall during his concert in Chengdu, China on July 4, leaving him with injuries that required 39 stitches, according to The Straits Times.

The 50-year-old was performing on the Chengdu leg of his "The Best Place II" tour, with three shows scheduled from July 3 to 5 at Dong'an Lake Sports Park main stadium, which has a capacity of up to 40,000 spectators.

Videos circulating on social media showed Wang tripping over a safety harness as he moved from a platform onto a staircase during the opening of the July 4 show.

He had earlier been lowered onto the stage using the same harness system.

He fell heavily onstage, with the left side of his face striking the ground.
