KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 -- A debt collector with a prior criminal record has been arrested in connection with the confinement, abuse, and sodomy of a 14-year-old boy in Bukit Kemuning earlier this month.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar confirmed that the male suspect was arrested in his rented room in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, May 16.

He has been remanded for three days to assist with the investigation, Harian Metro reported.

"If the investigation is not yet complete, we will apply for an extension of the remand order," Shazeli told a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters today.
