KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 6 -- An alarming claim that an 11-year-old girl had left her school with a man on a motorcycle was fabricated by a fellow pupil after a dispute between the pair, police have said.

Kulim district police chief Superintendent Syamsul Sinring said investigations found the girl had never left the school grounds and had instead hidden inside a toilet after an argument with a friend, Utusan Malaysia reported.

Police were alerted after the school's Senior Assistant for Student Affairs received information from two female pupils claiming the girl had left the premises with a man on a motorcycle.

But investigators later established that the account was false.
