KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 24 -- The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has issued a show-cause notice to the opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional (PN) and ordered an immediate suspension of all its activities nationwide.

In a statement last night, the regulatory department confirmed it issued the notice on September 22 under Subsection 13(2) of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 832), giving PN a stipulated period to respond.

The RoS clarified that the notice was triggered by a formal complaint lodged by component party Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), stressing that the step does not represent a final deregistration order.
