KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 28 -- Several areas across Malaysia remain at risk of hazy conditions and reduced visibility from August 27 to 31, according to weather forecast models monitored by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

MetMalaysia director-general Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said the conditions were due to the influence of south-westerly winds and a persistently high number of hotspots in southern Sumatra and western Kalimantan.

"The MyCMAQ (Malaysia Community Multi-scale Air Quality Model) haze concentration forecast shows Sarawak could be the worst-affected area, with most districts expected to experience hazy weather at the Unhealthy level.
