KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 5 -- Police have pledged a thorough and transparent investigation into the death of a 16-year-old girl who was believed to have been murdered at a school here on October 3.

Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said the investigation would be conducted comprehensively and professionally, with no attempt to cover up the case or protect any party.

"The investigation will be conducted comprehensively, transparently and professionally without any element of cover-up or protecting any party," he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated by the Batu Pahat district police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
