PETALING JAYA, Oct. 9 -- A man in his 30s was shot and injured by police before being arrested after allegedly driving dangerously and crashing into several vehicles while attempting to flee in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Sinar Harian reported Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat as saying the incident occurred at about 6.42pm along Persiaran Mahogani towards Sungai Buloh, after a police patrol car pursued the suspect's Proton Wira.

"The suspect suffered injuries after being hit by shots fired by police," Shamsudin was quoted as saying in a statement today.

He said a police patrol officer involved in the incident was also injured and received hospital treatment.
