PM term limit, AG-PP split: DAP wants both Bills tabled in Oct-Dec sitting
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 6 -- DAP is pushing for two constitutional reform Bills covering the prime minister's tenure and the separation of the attorney general and public prosecutor to be brought back to the Dewan Rakyat when its next sitting begins on October 5.
DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo said both draft Bills were ready and should be tabled during the sitting, which runs until December 8.
"The matter has been discussed and the drafts are ready. I have asked for both Bills to be tabled," he was quoted by The New Straits Times as saying today.
According to Gobind, de facto Law and Institutional Reform Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said that the Bills were ready as part of the government's institutional reform agenda.
