Penang to get two dog-friendly parks as councils embrace responsible pet ownership
GEORGE TOWN, July 8 -- Penang is set to have two dog-friendly parks as authorities and animal welfare groups move to create safer spaces for pets while promoting responsible ownership.
According to The Star, the Seberang Perai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is transforming part of its shelter in Juru into a dedicated dog park where canines can exercise and socialise.
SPCA shelter manager and treasurer Richard Ong said the 0.2ha facility, estimated to cost about RM15,000, would feature artificial turf, improved drainage, pet play equipment, gazebos and a swimming pool for dogs.
