PERTH, Sept. 10 -- The alleged murder of a Penang-born mother of three in Perth has drawn attention in Malaysia, with her family grieving as a community fundraiser for her young children nears A$36,000 (RM100,000).

Tan Kah Ming, 28, was pronounced dead after paramedics were called to her home in Taree Street, St James, at about 8.30pm on August 26.

Kah Ming - who also goes by the name Carming Tan - was allegedly assaulted in the days before she became unresponsive, prompting the emergency call, with Homicide Squad detectives treating her death as occurring in the context of a family and domestic relationship.

Her partner, identified as Younis Qambari, 38, has been charged with murder and remains in custody.
