KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 24 -- PAS is prepared to contest future elections under its own moon symbol if Perikatan Nasional (PN) is unable to use its coalition logo, party vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said.

Mohd Amar said PAS was sufficiently well known among voters for a change of electoral symbol not to pose a problem, pointing to recognition of the party in recent state elections.

"In my observation, under the current political situation, it does not matter which logo we use because people already know PAS. In the past, people did not," he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.

"With what happened in Johor and Negeri Sembilan, it can be said that even Umno supporters recognise PAS."
