KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 12 -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has busted a syndicate suspected of illegally importing frozen chicken from China into Sabah by allegedly bribing authorities at a port, Sinar Harian reported.

Citing a source, the Malay daily reported that 10 containers of frozen chicken believed to have been illegally imported from China were seized under Op Chick on Tuesday morning.

The operation was carried out by the MACC's Intelligence Division in cooperation with the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

Preliminary investigations found that the containers had allegedly been falsely declared and did not undergo the required inspection process.
