New PJ hospital site finalised; Selangor MB pledges to expedite approvals for 500-bed facility
KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 -- The site for the long-awaited Petaling Jaya public hospital has been officially confirmed, paving the way for a new 500-bed facility to serve the rapidly growing population of the Petaling district.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced today that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has accepted the proposed location following a high-level coordination meeting on May 14 involving federal, state, and local government agencies.
The new hospital will be built using a "vertical concept," a design similar to Hospital Ampang that allows for high capacity on a smaller land footprint, which Amirudin said is best for the urban landscape of Petaling Jaya and will help the MOH optimise construction costs.
