KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 12 -- A 60-year-old motorcyclist died after he reportedly tried to avoid a pedestrian crossing the road before falling and being run over by a lorry in Hulu Selangor yesterday.

Sinar Harian reported that the incident occurred at about 7pm along Jalan Batang Kali-Ulu Yam, citing Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt M Manimaran.

Manimaran said preliminary investigations found that the victim was believed to have been overtaking a lorry from the right when a pedestrian was crossing the road.

"The motorcyclist is believed to have tried to avoid the pedestrian before losing control and falling from his motorcycle," he said in a statement today.
