PUTRAJAYA, June 7 -- The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) has initiated a monitoring operation following reports of a mysterious bright light sighted in Sabah's airspace earlier this week.

In a statement today, the ministry confirmed that its Space Regulatory Authority Division (BPAngkasa) has received preliminary information regarding the phenomenon, which was reportedly observed by members of the public on the night of June 4.

Despite the sighting, the ministry clarified that there have been no official reports of debris, such as fragments from a rocket or other space objects, being discovered on land or in Malaysian waters.
