Man tasered and arrested after swinging saw in Singapore's Bedok North
SINGAPORE, July 6 -- A 55-year-old man was tasered and arrested yesterday afternoon after he was seen swinging a saw and refusing to comply with police instructions at Block 539 Bedok North Street 3, according to the police.
According to the Straits Times, officers were deployed at about 3.25pm following a call for assistance. The man allegedly ignored repeated warnings to drop the saw and continued shouting incoherently. To "de-escalate and contain the situation", officers used a Taser to subdue him before placing him under arrest.
He was arrested for public nuisance, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and suspected consumption of a controlled drug. He was conscious when taken to Changi General Hospital. The suspected...
