Malaysia may one day vote online, EC says trust and security top priorities
PETALING JAYA, Aug. 14 -- The Election Commission (EC) has not ruled out the possibility of introducing online or electronic voting in Malaysia in the future.
According to Berita Harian (BH), EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the proposal would however, require thorough study, particularly in terms of public trust and confidence in such a system.
He explained that several critical aspects must be considered, including cybersecurity, the integrity of the electoral process, ballot secrecy, infrastructure readiness and potential legislative amendments.
