MACC gets seven-day remand for former Tabung Haji chairman, ex-Treasury sec-gen
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 27 -- A politician who previously served as Tabung Haji (TH) chairman and a former Treasury secretary-general have been remanded for seven days to assist in ongoing graft investigations into the pilgrimage fund.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) also obtained a four-day remand extension for a former TH chief executive officer who had already completed an initial seven-day detention period.
The three suspects arrived at the Putrajaya Court Complex at 9.30am under heavy guard for the remand proceedings, Kosmo reported.
Both the former TH chairman and the former finance ministry secretary-general, who are in their 60s, were arrested at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at around 4pm on Wednesday.
