JPJ suspends Chery Omoda 5 approval, new registrations after rear axle incident in Johor Bahru
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 11 -- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has temporarily suspended the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) for the affected Chery Omoda 5 model and variants following a safety concern arising from an incident that went viral in Johor Bahru last week.
JPJ director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli said the action also involved a suspension of new registrations for the vehicles until technical investigations were completed and the safety risks identified, Kosmo! Online reported today.
He said the move was an early precautionary measure to safeguard road users.
