KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 12 -- Independent men's singles shuttler Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin moved into the Vietnam Open semi-finals after upsetting China's fifth seed Dong Tianyao in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

The Selangor-born player, who has endured a difficult run of form in recent months, recovered from losing the opening game to beat Tianyao 21-18, 21-17 at the Nguyen Du Stadium, The Star reported.

Aidil will meet Japan's Koga Minoru in the last four as he bids to reach his first final of the year.

His most recent appearance in a final came at the Al Ain Masters in the United Arab Emirates last September.
