KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 5 -- Police have recorded statements from 25 witnesses as part of investigations into allegations that the director-general of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) physically assaulted two police personnel at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on September 28.

In a statement issued today, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said that the two officers had lodged police reports over the alleged incident.

The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department at Bukit Aman under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which covers voluntarily causing hurt.

Those convicted under the provision face up to one year in prison, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
