KUALA LUMPUR, May 29 -- A trailer driver cheated death after exiting his vehicle moments before it suddenly rolled forward and plunged into a ravine along the Gua Musang-Lojing road in Kelantan.

The dramatic incident unfolded at Km90 of the route at about 7.30am yesterday when the 30-year-old driver stopped his trailer after suspecting a brake failure.

According to Harian Metro, Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said the driver, who was travelling from Port Klang to Lojing, pulled over on the left shoulder to inspect the vehicle after noticing problems with the braking system.

But while he was checking the trailer, it suddenly began rolling forward on its own before plunging into a ravine beside the road.
