KUALA LUMPUR, Sept. 7 -- PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang is expected to give a statement to police after Bukit Aman contacted him over his claim that the United States sought to help topple the Malaysian government before the 2018 general election.

Hadi's political secretary Syahir Sulaiman said the PAS president was ready to cooperate, although no date has been fixed for his statement, Berita Harian reported today.

"Yes, Bukit Aman has contacted us. Hadi has been informed and is ready to give the police his full cooperation," Syahir was quoted as saying.

Three police reports have been lodged over Hadi's claim that the US offered assistance to topple the government in 2014.
