From Sarawak to Petaling Jaya: Rumah Asap Kanid brings Dayak barbecue to Damansara Jaya's Restoran Ah Pei Char Siu
PETALING JAYA, Aug. 3 -- Dayaks in Sarawak love barbecues - affectionately calling it "Q" - as the communal round-the-fire cooking brings family and friends together.
Once held just in their villages, its popularity has spread throughout cities in Sarawak and even crossed the seas to the Klang Valley.
Rumah Asap Kanid, opened by Dayak-Kelabit Adrian Langat and his partner, is the latest to bring East Malaysian culture to Restoran Ah Pei Char Siu.
The Damansara Jaya coffee shop, once known as Times Kopitiam & Cafe, has recently been taken over by Chan Yoke Pui, who runs Ah Pei Char Siu.
All the other stalls are still here except for Ang Kee, which decided to look for a new location.
