Dengue cases surge 56pc as MOH warns of nationwide spread
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 21 -- The Ministry of Health (MOH) has sounded the alarm over a significant surge in dengue cases across Malaysia, with infections spiking by more than 50 per cent compared to last year.
Data as of Epidemiological Week 32 (EW 32/2026) reveals a total of 58,079 reported cases, or a 56.2 per cent increase from the same period in 2025.
The crisis has already claimed 55 lives due to complications from the virus, MOH said.
While initial clusters were centred in the Klang Valley, specifically across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya, the ministry warns that the risk is no longer contained.
