Daily haze advisories to begin in Singapore after first unhealthy PSI reading since 2023
SINGAPORE, Sept. 3 -- Singapore will begin issuing daily haze advisories from Friday evening after air quality in the central region deteriorated into the unhealthy range, prompting government agencies to activate their haze response plans.
The National Environment Agency (NEA) said the advisories would include a 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) forecast to help people plan outdoor activities and events, Singapore-based media organisation CNA reported.
The move comes after the 24-hour PSI in central Singapore crossed into the unhealthy range of 101 to 200 at 7am on Friday, the first time it has done so due to haze since Oct 8, 2023.
The reading rose further to 105 at 10am.
