KUALA LUMPUR, Oct. 9 -- The government is set to increase the procurement allocation for Bumiputera contractors in the G1 to G4 grades to RM7.5 billion under Budget 2027, an increase from RM4 billion this year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this follows recent concerns raised by Bumiputera contractors and companies.

"For maintenance, repair and upgrading works of government facilities, the procurement threshold for direct appointment is allowed up to RM200,000 and for quotations, up to RM3 million," he said.

He added that the Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju), a strategic agency under the Prime Minister's Department, will provide financing of up to RM1 billion while effectively monitoring Bumiputera projects acros...
