India, June 13 -- Various departments, educational institutions and residential halls of Aligarh Muslim University participated in the nationwide Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, promoting environmental conservation and greater public awareness about the importance of tree plantation.

The Department of Linguistics planted two saplings at its Translation Cell on Anoopshahr Road. Addressing faculty and staff members, Chairman of the Department, Prof. Mohammad Jahangeer Warsi, described the campaign as a continuation of the spirit of World Environment Day and emphasized the collective responsibility of society to plant and nurture trees for a greener and cleaner environment.
