Tejashwi takes dig at Modi, Samrat; calls 'austerity' appeal govt's failure
PATNA, May 18 -- Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Prasad took a dig at the state government asserting that the present dispensation led by CM Samrat Choudhary did not have any road map or vision, which was impeding the development of the state.
In a press interaction late on Saturday evening, Yadav said the CM's bid to walk to the CM secretariat near his official residence was just a 'photoshoot' in the name of conserving fuel. "The CM is busy doing photoshoot , nothing else. How many ministers have walked to their office? This government does not have any vision or any road map for development," Yadav said.
Yadav claimed there was widespread anger among people over the price rise of essential commodities, inflation and fuel price hike even as he criticised the way the Centre had appealed to people to conserve fuel and curtail on purchasing gold and also spend on other activities.
" Before the elections in five states, we were already saying there would be big hike in fuel prices. Now that the elections are over, fuel prices have gone up. What is this? The government is asking people not to buy gold, cut down on fuel consumption, etc. Do they ( read Centre) want to take us to the bullock cart age?," Yadav wondered.
The RJD senior leader also flayed the incidents of crime in the state stating that during the mock drill in Patna and other cities for disaster preparedness, a trader in Patna was killed. "It is good they have conducted a mock drill and done blackout. They should also construct bunkers here for the safety of the common people. But they would not do so and only think about their own security," Yadav said.
That apart, Yadav also took a swipe at PM Modi, stating the latter has always remained busy in electioneering or in foreign tours, a reason why the country was facing so many problems. "PM Modi either goes on foreign trips or in election yatras. The foreign policy has taken a hit while the value of rupee has weakened whereas the government is busy appealing to people not to buy gold, conserve fuel etc. I ask , what is the government there for? The PM is busy either in photoshoots or in reels. Have you all seen him doing some work?," Yadav said sarcastically.
He also said the party's win in the MLC by poll from Bhojpur-Buxar local authorities constituency recently had come as a big morale booster for the party supporters and given a setback to the ruling NDA coalition. RJD's nominee Sonu Kumar Rai won the by-poll defeating his nearest rival Kanhaiya Prasad of the JD(U)....
